A date of birth is useful only when there is a reason to use it. A birthday benefit can provide that reason, as long as customers know what to expect and the business can deliver without improvising.
Choose between giving a balance and multiplying earnings; explain the difference before the day arrives.
Choose the experience you want to create
A fixed gift recognizes the date even without a purchase that day. A multiplier rewards what customers earn when they visit. These are different propositions: one provides a complimentary balance; the other changes an eligible earning operation.
For a café, three stamps might bring a coffee closer. For a shop, double points might accompany a purchase chosen by the customer. Keep units consistent: stamps, points and monetary credit each need their own rules.
Define the rule on the card
Compatible Trivu programs let you turn the benefit off, select a fixed gift or configure an earning multiplier. The multiplier applies to confirmed stamp, point or cashback earnings. It does not multiply redemptions or corrections, and does not apply to gift-card top-ups.
Illustrative example: a purchase that normally earns five points earns ten with 2× enabled. If a purchase-based rule does not reach the minimum to earn any points, doubling zero still produces zero. Staff should review the result in the preview before saving.
Use the correct day and avoid duplicates
Trivu evaluates the birthday in the business timezone. The birth date is stored as a date, without converting it into a birth time. That avoids moving the celebration to an adjacent day because of a timezone difference.
A fixed gift is recorded once per member, program and year. Automatic checks run hourly while the worker is active; a card issued on that day can also receive the gift. The current February 29 policy uses February 28 in non-leap years. Explain these conditions wherever they are part of your offer.
Keep the gesture sustainable
Calculate the cost and decide how the benefit relates to other promotions. An existing balance does not mean you should erase points or restart a card to deliver a birthday gift. The benefit should appear as a traceable balance movement.
Keep birth dates private and correct mistakes from the member profile. The web card reflects the balance; a real Apple or Google Wallet installation depends on enabling the corresponding integration. Do not promise a birthday email or notification unless that delivery has actually been configured.
